# Transfer a domain out

> Move a domain you registered through Bizzy to another provider with help from support

<Badge color="green">New</Badge>

Support handles transfers out of Bizzy. Ask from the **Settings** tab of a
domain you registered through Bizzy, and support takes you through each step.
A domain you verified but registered elsewhere stays with the provider you
bought it from, so there is nothing to transfer.

## Before you start

Support confirms the domain can be transferred before anything changes. A
domain can't be transferred while:

* it was registered, or its registrant's name, business, or email changed,
  within the last 60 days
* it isn't **Active**
* it has [subdomains](/user-guide/domains/subdomains) — remove them first
* a registration or renewal is still running
* another transfer is under way

Your new provider can have its own rules for the domain's extension. Check with
them before you ask.

## Request a transfer

1. Open the domain and select the **Settings** tab.
2. Under **Transfer Your Domain**, click **Contact support**. A message to
[support@bizzyco.ai](mailto:support@bizzyco.ai) opens with the domain name filled in.
3. Send it from the email address on your Bizzy account.

Only an owner or admin of the business can ask. Sending the email doesn't start
a transfer: support first verifies your identity and your role. If that check
fails, support asks an owner or admin to send the request from the address on
their account.

## Get your authorization code

Support removes the domain's transfer lock and sends you its authorization code
in the same support conversation. Bizzy doesn't keep a copy, so if you lose the
code, ask support for it again.

Enter the code at your new provider to start the transfer there, within 14 days
of support recording your request. A transfer can take up to five days to
complete.

## While a transfer is under way

Until the request closes, you can't renew the domain, change its transfer lock,
change the registrant's name, business, or email, add subdomains, or delete the
domain.

## Cancel a transfer

Email support to cancel. If the transfer lock was already removed, the request
stays open until the lock is back on, then closes.

## If a request runs out of time

A request stays open for 14 days after support records it. If it hasn't
finished by then:

* If support hadn't started on it, it expires and nothing about the domain
  changes.
* If the transfer lock was removed but no code was sent, the lock goes back on
  before the request expires.
* If you already have the code, the lock goes back on, so a transfer you
haven't started at your new provider can't go ahead. A transfer you already
started continues, and the request stays open until support confirms whether
  the domain has left.

You get an email when a request expires. To try again, contact support for a
new request.

## After the transfer

Support confirms the domain has left Bizzy before marking the transfer
complete, and you get an email when it is. Bizzy stops renewing and billing you
for the registration, so manage renewal with your new provider.

The domain stays in your business as a
[verified domain](/user-guide/domains/verify). Its DNS records and email
addresses keep working, and you can keep managing them in Bizzy, while the
domain uses Bizzy's nameservers. Copy your records to your new provider before
you switch the domain's nameservers there.
